Job Offer: Research Position in AI for Rare Disease Research

The Systems Biomedicine lab of the Cajal Institute (IC-CSIC) is seeking highly a motivated candidate to join an innovative research project funded by Fundación Isabel Gemio, focused on applying cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies to advance rare disease research. This project offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of biology, computation, and AI within a dynamic multidisciplinary team.

Position Overview

The selected candidate will contribute to the development and application of AI-based methods for the analysis of biological data relevant to rare diseases.
Responsibilities include installation of LLMs, prompt engineering, natural language processing, ontology alignment and collaboration with researchers across multiple domains.

Required Qualifications

  • A university degree (Bachelor’s level or equivalent) in Biology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • A Master’s degree (completed or ongoing) in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a closely related field.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience with data analysis, machine learning, or bioinformatics pipelines.
  • Familiarity with programming languages commonly used in computational research (e.g., Python, R, Julia).
  • Understanding of biological datasets, genomics, or clinical data management is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work both independently and within a collaborative research environment.
  • Advanced level of English (written and spoken), enabling effective communication, documentation, and collaboration within an international research environment.
