JBI2025

The JBI2025 Organising Committee is pleased to announce the XV Jornadas de Bioinformática - XV Symposium on Bioinformatics (JBI2025), which will take place from 22-24 October, 2025 at ETSII-UPM in Madrid, Spain.

Building on the success of previous editions, JBI2025 aims to strengthen community-building by providing a dynamic forum for the Spanish and Portuguese bioinformatics and computational biology communities to share and discuss the latest breakthroughs.

The confirmed keynote speakers are Dr. Roser Vento-Tormo, Vento-Tormo Group Leader at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, Hinxton, United Kingdom; Dr. Francesca Cicarelli, Francis Crick Institute, UK; Dr. Raúl Rabadán, Spanish National Cancer Research Center and Columbia University; Dr. Cedric Notredame, Comparative Bioinformatics Group Leader at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), Barcelona, Spain; and Prof. Tim Hubbard, Director of ELIXIR and Professor of Bioinformatics at the King’s College London, United Kingdom.

The JBI2025 Scientific Committee is delighted to invite you to submit and present your work through the two open calls available on the JBI2025 Calls website:

  • Recently published research articles in peer-reviewed journals. Selected works will be showcased in plenary highlight sessions, offering authors a chance to present their findings to a broad audience.

  • Research abstracts for oral presentations or posters. Selected oral communications will feature in plenary thematic sessions, and accepted posters will be presented in dedicated poster viewing sessions.

Abstracts submission includes, but not limited, the main themes:

  • Genomes
  • Single-cell Omics
  • Proteins
  • Systems Biology and Multiomics
  • Digital Health
  • Microbiomes and Planetary Health

JBI2025 is jointly organised by the National Center for Biotechnology (CNB-CSIC) and the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO), with the support of the Spanish National Bioinformatics Institute (INB/ELIXIR-ES), BioData.pt (ELIXIR-PT) and INSTRUCT-ERIC Spain.

Since its first edition in 2001, the Jornadas de Bioinformática - Symposium on Bioinformatics has become a key meeting point for the Spanish bioinformatics community. In recent years, it has been superseded by the European ECCB2020 and ECCB2022 conferences organized by INB/ELIXIR-ES. Now, the XV edition returns to its roots with renewed energy and an expanded vision—bringing together researchers from Spain and Portugal to foster deeper collaboration across borders and disciplines.

Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of this vibrant and growing community. Join us in Madrid for an inspiring and engaging JBI2025!
