Research Data Management is an activity that can transform a project into a great executed project, but it needs different skills beyond the specific scientific discipline, like IT or administration.

Registration has open to attend the course "Research Data Management for Beginners" that will take place in person in the UPC premises in Barcelona, Spain, on the 8th and 9th of April, 2024.

The main goal of this course is to give basic notions and practical examples and exercises about Data Management activities for researchers and research support staff.

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to effectively plan and manage research data for a project by developing a comprehensive Data Management Plan (DMP) in accordance with best practices and guidelines. Specifically, participants will have gained a solid understanding of Data Management fundamentals, the role and responsibilities of Data Managers, the practical application of FAIR principles, the European and national context for Data Management, and the practical skills necessary to prepare, evaluate, and compare DMP tools and templates.

This course is jointly organised by the Data Management unit, Life Sciences dept and Earth Sciences dept of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), with the collaboration of the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES) and the Spanish National Bioinformatics Institute (INB/ELIXIR-ES).
