The Bioinformatics Unit (BU) within the Structural Biology programme of the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and talented bioinformatician. The selected candidate will work on the collection, and analysis of biological/clinical data, with a focus on high-throughput sequencing data. He or She will design data analysis strategies and develop and use computational tools for the exploration of large cancer data sets.

Selection Criteria

  • MSc level in Bioinformatics with at least 3 years of experience in the Bioinformatics field.
  • Strong background in bioinformatics, molecular biology and cancer genomics.
  • Practical experience in high-throughput data analysis.
  • Expertise in developing or applying bioinformatics tools for analyzing genomic data sequencing, gene expression, etc) and familiarity with widely used genomic databases and software.
  • Strong programming skills (Python, R, SQL, etc) and familiarity with GNU/Linux cluster environments.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English is required.
  • Experience in team’s coordination and ability to perform collaborative research in a highly multi-disciplinary environment (molecular biologists, medical doctors, computer scientists, and technical staff).
