Group description: The Computational Genomics group, led by ICREA professor Toni Gabaldón, is jointly affiliated to the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC) and the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) and performs multidisciplinary research in the fields of genome evolution, phylogenomics, and microbiology.

Job description: The group is looking for a highly motivated bioinformatician to have a transversal role in several comparative genomics projects in the group. The candidate will be responsible of developing, running, and maintaining core genomic analysis pipelines incuding genome assembly, variant calling, phylogenomics, and microbiome profiling. He/She will work closely with other members of the group and contribute to various projects particularly those that need to deal with large and complex amounts of data. Kowledge of Omics data integration, visualization and machine learning approaches will be highly valuable. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research group within the Life Sciences department. The researcher will work in a sophisticated HPC environment and will have access to systems and computational infrastructures. Priority will be given to highly motivated and proactive candidates with the ambition to develop their career in the field of computational genomics.

Qualifications: Master in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Sciences or equivalent. Programming skills in python, R, or similar. Spoken and written English. Knowledge of Machine learning approaches or database development and management will be a plus.
