Within this context, the IMDEA Food Foundation launches this Call for the recruitment of one researcher who wants to develop their research career at IMDEA Food in Food and Health Area, covering the following position:

The Computational  Biology  Group within the IMDEA-Food  Institute is seeking a highly motivated scientist with expertise in  Text  Mining and  Natural  Language  Processing  (NLP). The candidate will be involved in the European project “Food Nutrition Security Cloud (FNS-Cloud)”, a large European consortium with 36 partners. The candidate will work in the tasks led by the group to design and create Text Mining and Natural Language tools for food-drug interactions.  In  addition,  the candidate will have the opportunity to develop research lines in text mining in the food field related with health.

The  Computational  Biology  Group is a  multidisciplinary community of bioinformaticians,  biostatisticians,  molecular biologists and microbiologists focused on the study of nutritional behaviours on health and complex diseases,  such as the complexity in the relationships between food,  genes and disease to establish precision personalized nutrition strategies based on individual molecular background.  The group leader provides focused and tailored mentoring to ensure that group members reach their desired career goals.

2. Eligibility criteria

Candidates  must  fulfill  at  the  moment  of  applying  the  requirements,  qualifications  and  experience according to Annex 1.

3. Evaluation and selection of candidates.

Candidates  will  be  selected  based  on  the  profiles  described  in  Annex  1  as  appropriately  outlined  in  their  CV  by  a  Selection  Committee  composed  by  scientist  staff  of  IMDEA  Food  Institute.  Ad-hoc experts could be participating in the process. The best-qualified applicants can be invited locally for an interview by the Selection Committee.

4. Application.

Interested candidates should submit their applications before 18 natural days (before 17:00 p.m. local time) counted from the day after the publication of this resolution on the website of the Foundation.

They  must send by e-mail  to rrhh.alimentacion@imdea.org,  with  the  Reference  of  the  position (Ref. PD2020/002), the following documents before the deadline:

  1. Curriculum Vitae (including a cover letter).
  2. Cover  letter  explaining  clearly  why  the  candidate  profile  match  the  education  and  experience  requirements  related  with  Text  Mining  and  Natural  Language  Processing
  3. At least one reference letter from prior laboratory group leaders or people relevant in her/his career are also requested.
