Description

The Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) seeks an experienced and motivated Research Scientist in Artificial Intelligence (AI), AI-driven data analysis and scientific computing. This role will focus on developing and implementing advanced AI methods and computational tools to address complex challenges in cancer research. The successful candidate will support and collaborate with CNIO research groups and units, fostering innovative approaches to cancer biology.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary, and inclusive environment, bridging computational and experimental sciences to contribute to impactful discoveries in oncology.
Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement cutting-edge AI and computational methodologies tailored to cancer research needs.
  • Provide computational support, training, and consultation to CNIO researchers in areas such as AI model development, software tools, and data management.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate AI and computational techniques into experimental workflows.
  • Advance the development of approaches in data mining, big data analysis, and high-performance computing (HPC) for cancer research.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior researchers and developers.
  • Contribute to grant writing and securing funding for HPC-related projects.

Selection Criteria

  • PhD in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of postdoctoral experience in computational research, with demonstrated expertise in AI, machine learning, and data-intensive applications.
  • Proven track record of research excellence with publications in leading journals.
  • Demonstrable experience in HPC architectures, parallel file systems and programming, distributed computing, and data-intensive applications.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Image analysis.
    • Bioinformatics.
    • Information fusion.
    • Statistical modeling.
    • Predictive analytics.
    • High-throughput data integration and optimization.
  • Strong leadership and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and inclusive environments.
