Description

The Computational Cancer Genomics Group, within the Structural Biology Programme at the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO), needs to hire a Technician within the stabilization process set out in Additional Provision 30 of the General State Budget Act 2018.

Roles and Responsabilities of proposed position

  • Data collection and maintenance of public-available (cancer) genomics data.
  • Large-scale cancer samples alignment and mutation calling.
  • Construction standard pipeline for analysing large-scale sequencing data.
  • Technical supports for developing computational tools.

Selection Criteria

  • Vocational Training Qualification.
  • Must have more than three years’ experience in research centres performing similar tasks.
  • Proven experience in research centres of excellence performing similar tasks – 30%.
  • Technical skills:
    • Programming in different languages such as R, Python or others.
    • Familiarity with cluster compute environments (super computing system) and/or workflow management systems.
    • Experience in large-scale next-generation sequencing data analysis (e.g., BAM files alignment, mutation calling).
    • Some experience with developing user-friendly websites or tools will be highly considered.
    • Excellent communication skills and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work in a team, excellent attention to detail and the desire to learn and improve.
  • English (spoken and written).
  • Initiative, flexibility and the ability to solve everyday problems related to your duties and with regard to workplace relations.
