The Plass Lab, at the Center of Regenerative Medicine in Barcelona (CMR[B]), is seeking two highly motivated students to develop a PhD in our team. The successful candidates will work in developing new computational tools and analyses to understand how post-transcriptional regulation impacts gene regulation and cell differentiation using single-cell transcriptomics and high-throughput sequencing data.
The aim of the Plass lab is to investigate the function of post-transcriptional regulation in gene regulation and cell differentiation, and in particular its contribution to the development of neurodevelopment and neurodegenerative diseases. For this purpose, we use a combination of high-throughput sequencing technologies with computational analyses from a system biology perspective.
We are looking for candidates with a background in biology, computer science, physics or similar with a strong background in bioinformatics and experience in high-throughput sequencing data analyses. Candidates are expected to have experience in R and a scripting language such as Python or Perl. Prior knowledge on single-cell transcriptomics, post-transcriptional regulation or method development will be considered. Interest in gene regulation and working in a multidisciplinary team will be valued, as interaction with experimental researchers will be required for the success of the project.
